About Insurance and Massage Therapy

Many Massage Therapists accept insurance, but not all insurance
companies pay for Massage Therapy. This is changing, as more
and more insurance companies are realizing the benefits of
Massage and are including it as a covered therapy.

Types of Insurance

Commercial Insurance-Commercial Insurance (also called
Private Insurance) is usually paid for by the patient, their employer
or both. The government also offers commercial insurance to it's
civilian workers.

Some examples of Commercial Insurance are
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida
, and Aetna.
While massage therapy can be covered by insurance companies,
not all policies offered by the insurance company will pay for
Massage Therapy. For example, most BCBS of Florida PPO policie
will pay but most BCBS of Florida HMO's won't..
(Your insurance card will state what type of insurance you have).

PIP Insurance - In Florida, if you are a registered automobile
owner you are required to purchase automobile insurance. You are
also required to purchase PIP insurance (Personal Injury Protectio
or No-Fault Insurance).  Florida's coverage for PIP is $10,000.
This covers the patient for medical bills pertaining to the accident.
Some examples of companies that provide PIP insurance are

USAA, Progressive, Geico, and State Farm,
